Ballinderry River Through The Lens

by on Feb.27, 2009, under News

The Mid-Ulster Photography Club and the Ballinderry River Enhancement Association (BREA) have joined forces to bring the Ballinderry River indoors at the Burnavon Arts & Cultural Centre, Cookstown.

A spectacular selection of images of the Ballinderry River, captured by local photographers, will be on display for four weeks starting Monday 2nd March.  Taken over the last year, the photographs tell the story of the river from its sources at Camlough, in the Sperrin Mountains, to its mouth at Lough Neagh and how we use the river as a place of recreation and relaxation.

Laurie Campbell, Chairperson of the Mid-Ulster Photography Club, said “The River provides a fantastic opportunity to take photographs which capture the beauty of a dynamic and ever changing environment.  We are very proud, as a club, to be able to bring the river to everyone through this display of photographs”.

Leo Cassidy, Chairperson of BREA, explained “This year marks the 25th anniversary of BREA which has been working to improve the river, fish stocks and provide a better understanding of the river in the local community.  Aside from marking this occasion, this exhibition will also show people not only how the river changes from source to mouth but also how it can play a special part in our lives as a place to enjoy and protect”.

Entry to the exhibition is free and open during Burnavon opening hours.  For more information please contact Mark on 028 867 61515.
